The Assistant Manager (AM) position at Burger King plays a critical role in supporting the Restaurant General Manager to achieve operational excellence and deliver exceptional guest experiences. This role involves managing daily restaurant operations, ensuring adherence to company policies, and driving the team towards meeting sales, profitability, and employee retention goals. The AM is a hands-on leader who oversees multiple shifts, coordinates with various stakeholders including team members and vendors, and steps in fully for the General Manager when necessary. The position requires flexibility, as it involves working long or irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to maintain the smooth functioning of the restaurant.

In this leadership role, the Assistant Manager is responsible for motivating and managing team members, overseeing food preparation and service speed, implementing marketing strategies, managing labor and inventory, and enforcing compliance with safety and operational policies. The AM is also involved in recruiting, training, and retaining team members, making personnel decisions like hiring and discipline, and maintaining high standards for guest service. The role demands strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and competence in financial and operational management. By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Assistant Manager contributes significantly to the restaurant's success and fosters a positive environment for both guests and employees.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Has an automobile with required insurance coverage available to drive for the Company
  • High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred
  • Complete all internal certification programs
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in quick service restaurant industry

Job Duties

  • Direct efficient and accurate preparation and sale of products for prompt delivery within established speed of service guidelines
  • Motivate and direct team members and Shift Supervisors to exceed Guest expectations with fast and friendly service in clean surroundings
  • Supervise and train team members and Shift Supervisors on team stations, BKC products, processes and policies
  • Follow cash control/security procedures and help to implement marketing plans, maintain inventory, manage labor, and apply financial reports across shifts to enhance restaurant results
  • Assist RGM in enforcing compliance with government regulations, BK Market Policy, employment law, food safety, BK Security Policy, operations, and BK policies and procedures relating to all restaurant activities across shifts
  • Recruit, hire, train and work to retain effective team talent, by making decisions or recommendations on hiring and advancement
  • Make decisions or recommendations on the discipline and terminations of team members
  • Be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Maintain prompt and regular attendance for assigned shifts, meetings and training
  • Make guests feel special
  • Other duties as assigned by the General Manager, District Manager, Officer or Director of the Company
