We are currently seeking a motivated and dependable Maintenance Worker to join our team. This full-time position offers a starting salary of $35,660 and plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of school facilities. The Maintenance Worker will be tasked with a variety of manual activities that include cleaning, repairing, and general upkeep of the buildings and grounds. This role is essential in ensuring that the learning environment is safe, inviting, and fully operational for students, staff, and visitors.
The Maintenance Worker will perform duties such as moving and assembling furniture, assisting with HVAC installation and repairs, conducting plumbing and roof repairs, and transporting supplies to support classroom operations. In addition, the role requires thorough cleaning duties including scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, washing windows, and restocking restroom supplies. The position involves outdoor maintenance tasks such as lawn care, landscaping, and keeping sidewalks clear of debris to maintain a safe campus environment.
Additionally, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for minor repairs to furniture and facilities, locking and unlocking doors, managing waste and recycling programs, and performing routine maintenance on heating and air conditioning systems. The individual must work carefully and efficiently without disrupting ongoing classroom activities unless an emergency occurs. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions are critical to success in this role.
This position demands physical stamina, including the ability to climb stairs and ladders, lift and carry up to 20 pounds, and perform tasks that require dexterity and precision. Knowledge of OSHA standards and cleaning procedures, as well as skillful use of maintenance equipment, is important. - High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in maintenance or custodial work preferred
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, HVAC, and repair techniques
- Physical ability to perform manual labor tasks

Job Qualifications
- Knowledgeable of OSHA standards and requirements
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment
- Some knowledge of procedures to operate heating and air conditioning equipment
- Skill in the use of small equipment used in routine cleaning and landscaping
- Ability to maintain positive working relations
- Ability to perform duties without interrupting ongoing classes/teachers unless specified or an emergency
- Able to climb stairs and meet physical demands of the job without the use of an elevator
- Able to climb an extension ladder to perform certain job duties
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral or written directions
- Physical ability to lift/carry 20 lbs and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job
Job Duties
- Moves and arranges furniture both for classrooms as well as general purpose rooms/auditorium
- Assembles furniture upon arrival as needed
- Assists with installation of HVAC units located throughout the building
- Performs roof repairs with appropriate materials to prevent leakage in building
- Transports curriculum orders and classroom supplies to designated locations, as needed
- Performs plumbing repairs including replacing toilets and urinals
- Scrubs, dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes and polishes floors in rooms, hallways and closets
