Air Liquide is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace, recognizing that a variety of backgrounds enhances team strength and fosters innovation.
Air Liquide's Newport, Delaware manufacturing facility is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join its Maintenance Department. This role is integral to the facility’s smooth operation and focuses on performing emergency, planned, preventive, and predictive maintenance on all plant assets. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician will play a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency and safety standards in a state-of-the-art chemical processing environment.
The Maintenance Technician position offers a competitive pay rate of $30.00 to $35.00 per hour and operates on a 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM shift schedule. Air Liquide provides a comprehensive benefits package supporting employees' whole life, including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. The company also offers additional family support benefits such as a 14-week paid childbirth benefit, 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. Importantly, benefits begin from day one of employment.
In this challenging and rewarding role, the Maintenance Technician will conduct maintenance and repair work on chemical, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Tasks include calibrating gauges and indicators, rebuilding components, cooperating with contractors, installing or modifying processing equipment, troubleshooting auxiliary and facility equipment, preparing purchase requisitions, and documenting maintenance activities in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards. The technician also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and company safety programs.
Ideal candidates should have a High School diploma or GED equivalent and over three years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably within the chemical industry. The position requires proficiency in reading P&ID and engineering drawings, a solid foundation in electronics, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, as well as tube bending, machine shop experience, and metal fabrication skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, alongside basic computer knowledge, is essential.
Preferred qualifications include certification as an electrician, an associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, and experience with PLC and VFD troubleshooting, instrumentation installation, setup, and calibration. Physically, candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, operate forklifts, and handle all-weather outdoor work conditions when required.
Safety is paramount at Air Liquide. This role is classified as safety-sensitive and subject to random drug testing per company policy. Applicants must have valid unrestricted work authorization in the U.S. and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. Military veterans are encouraged to apply, promoting Air Liquide's inclusive culture.
By joining Air Liquide, employees become part of an innovative, forward-thinking company devoted to sustainable growth and energy transition technologies, including hydrogen energy solutions and bio-natural gas. As part of the GM&T WBU, you will contribute to advancing technologies used in space exploration, maritime logistics, and clean energy markets, propelling Air Liquide’s mission forward while enjoying a supportive and dynamic work environment.
