Job Description

Wells Enterprises, known for its commitment to quality and innovation, is a leading manufacturing company in the dairy industry, specializing in producing some of the most recognizable ice cream brands in the United States. With a strong reputation built on decades of excellence, Wells Enterprises continues to invest in its workforce and technology to maintain its competitive edge in the market. As a recognized employer focusing on inclusivity and diversity, Wells Enterprises offers career opportunities that are both challenging and rewarding, supporting employees' professional growth and wellbeing. The company embraces a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all its operations.

This particular role, Maintenance Supervisor, is crucial within the operational framework at Wells Enterprises. It is a leadership position responsible for the planning and supervision of cost-effective and efficient maintenance activities to support the production operations. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures that equipment remains operational and production processes are not disrupted by timely maintenance. This role demands a high degree of coordination with maintenance personnel, contractors, vendors, and company engineering teams to facilitate equipment installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repair.

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance schedules, managing work orders, and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards specific to the dairy manufacturing environment. The role requires the ability to produce and review daily downtime reports and coordinate closely with line owners and operators to ensure accurate and efficient handoffs and documentation. Proficiency in various software programs such as Microsoft Office, CMMS, Lawson, WHIMS, and Oracle Applications is essential for managing electronic documents including root cause analyses, metrics, audits, and inspections.

A critical aspect of this role includes driving root cause analysis processes to reduce machine downtime and improve equipment reliability. The position requires a thorough understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes specific to the Wells Dairy. It involves active participation in production meetings with data-backed insights and seamless communication across shifts.

This supervisory role includes managing employee work schedules, payroll, and labor utilization while contributing to budget preparations and ensuring maintenance expenditures remain within budget. The Maintenance Supervisor leads initiatives to enhance team capabilities through coaching, training, and performance management. Safety compliance is a top priority, with the role overseeing adherence to Arc Flash, Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), OSHA regulations, and other safety codes.

Reliability initiatives form a key responsibility, requiring the supervisor to lead preventive maintenance programs and predictive technology applications like vibration analysis, infrared technology, and lubrication analysis. The supervisor also serves as a technical resource, supporting continuous improvement efforts and collaborating with vendors and engineering teams on equipment design modifications to boost reliability and performance.

Overall, this role offers a dynamic opportunity to be involved in both hands-on and strategic aspects of maintenance management within a leading manufacturing company in the food industry. Candidates are expected to bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to operational excellence. Wells Enterprises values proactive team leaders who are results-driven and ready to contribute to the company’s ongoing success and innovation in the dairy market.
