The Maintenance Porter role at SP+ in Baltimore, MD, is a full-time position within Parking Operations, stationed at the Harbor Park Garage. This role involves facility maintenance and customer service duties critical to maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming environments for customers and employees. The Maintenance Porter is responsible for performing routine upkeep tasks including sweeping, mopping, painting, equipment servicing, and snow removal, ensuring all areas of the facility remain tidy and operational. Additionally, the role includes checking and maintaining safety items such as gate arms and lighting, submitting repair requests, and maintaining inventories of supplies. Interaction with customers is also a vital part of the job, involving assistance with inquiries, complaint resolution, and supporting other staff members with various operational tasks as needed.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or combination of education and experience
  • Physical capability to perform job tasks including lifting and working in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license if driving company vehicles
  • Availability to work special shifts including weekends and nights
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers and staff
  • Ability to maintain a neat and professional appearance
  • Willingness to perform various duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to perform physical labor including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Basic maintenance and painting experience preferred
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license if driving is required
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments and schedules

Job Duties

  • Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks as directed by facility manager
  • Sweep and pick up litter around entrances, exits, and all facility levels
  • Empty trashcans in garage, office, and booths
  • Paint facility areas including poles, signs, doors, walls, and curbs
  • Replace burned out bulbs and apply oil absorbent to spills
  • Check safety items such as gate arms and ticket equipment daily
  • Operate equipment including sweepers, scrubbers, lawnmowers, and snow removal tools
  • Assist customers and resolve complaints
  • Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies and garage sweep sheets
  • Cover other operational duties such as cashier and attendant as needed
