The Millwright (Maintenance Mechanic) position at Ahlstrom's Nicolet Mill in De Pere, Wisconsin, is a vital role within the company's manufacturing operations. This full-time employment opportunity highlights the importance of mechanical maintenance work in ensuring the smooth functioning of manufacturing processes. The role involves a variety of hands-on mechanical maintenance tasks, which span the upkeep and repair of diverse systems and machinery essential to production. New hires will benefit from a one-year comprehensive hands-on training program, which allows them to rotate through all department areas while working alongside skilled craftsmen and production team members. The Millwright is responsible for maintaining and repairing critical manufacturing equipment including bearings, power transmission belts, roller chains, couplings, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electric motors, gearboxes, paper machine rolls, and centrifugal pumps. Additional duties include troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, pumping, and steam systems, as well as overhead hoists and cranes. This role requires practical skills in welding and piping system repairs. The Millwright will also maintain various paper mill systems such as water, compressed air, boilers, steam, paper machines, super calenders, converting, wrapping, shipping, and building infrastructure.

Working hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, with opportunities for overtime and weekend shifts which come with premium pay rates. The compensation package begins at $40.17 per hour for journeyman or well-qualified candidates. Additionally, Ahlstrom offers a $1,300 retention bonus payable within nine months, a $3.75 per hour weekend shift premium, a $1.10 per hour weekday night shift premium, and doubletime pay on 11 holidays. Vacation time is granted based on experience, and the company also provides profit-sharing programs and immediate access to medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits. This position requires the ability to work safely across varying shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays after completing required training and certification.   • Repairing piping systems and welding
  • Maintenance of paper mill systems such as water, compressed air, boilers, steam, paper machines, super calenders, converting, wrapping, shipping and buildings
