Job Requirements

  • Fluent in English
  • Pass required exam or test for acceptance into apprenticeship program
  • Flexibility to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as scheduled
  • Able to attain basic maintenance skills
  • Able to attain basic computer skills
  • Ability to work off ground level with proper safety training and safety equipment
  • Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment

  • Preferred experience in a bakery
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to attain basic maintenance skills

Job Duties

  • Learn and develop all safety requirements, required mechanical, troubleshooting, communication and behavioral skillsets to function efficiently at minimum required qualified mechanic standards
  • Successful completion of required coursework to develop required maintenance skillsets
  • Learn to perform preventive maintenance on bakery equipment
  • Assist in inspection and upkeep of machinery and equipment
  • Learn to repair or replace components on motors, pumps, mixers, conveyor lines, ovens, coolers, etc
  • Learn to inspect or replace belts, hoses, and drive components as needed
  • Become proficient at completing and documenting work orders on equipment
  • Ensure equipment in area is maintained, guarded and operated in accordance with defined safety regulations and procedures
  • Understand levels of line downtime and waste caused by equipment issues and associated points of cause
  • Proactively identify improvement focus areas
  • Participate in root cause problem solving by team
  • Identify potential cost savings and cost avoidance
  • Encourage all associates to work in a safe manner and in accordance with defined safety regulations and procedures
