The Mail Courier position is a key role within Porter-Leath, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager. This role requires a dependable individual responsible for the timely and safe transportation of packages, mail, and other items between the various Porter-Leath offices, work sites, and associated businesses. The Mail Courier not only ensures the smooth operation of mail delivery but also assists in the routine maintenance and repair tasks to support facility upkeep. This multifaceted job includes operating telephone switchboards to assist reception when needed, performing light landscaping and housekeeping duties, and completing errands using an agency-provided vehicle. Due to the nature of the role and its responsibilities, the ideal candidate will exhibit excellent time management skills, a safe driving record, and the ability to perform maintenance activities efficiently and safely. This position does not include supervisory responsibilities, allowing the employee to focus on the operational support necessary to maintain the organization's infrastructure and communications.

Job Requirements
- Knowledge of basic maintenance functions and techniques and working knowledge of maintenance equipment including basic tools, lawn equipment and housekeeping tools
- record keeping or writing skills to maintain accurate, up-to-date maintenance logs or documentation so that information is readily researched and retrieved
- organizational skills to determine workload priorities and complete a variety of tasks comprising a heavy workload in a timely manner and to plan or follow the most efficient routes for delivery
- effective oral and written communication skills
- ability to work with minimal supervision and ability to effectively manage workload with planning
- ability to exhibit initiative in reporting maintenance concerns to Supervisor
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- ability to work as a team player and interact or assist all employees as necessary
Job Qualifications
- HSD or GED is required
- minimum 1 year of prior experience within a courier or driver position and a record of safe driving skills
- experience working in non-profit preferred
Job Duties
- Collects, sorts and routes incoming mail, determines postage, and properly deliver outgoing mail by ensuring goods are loaded correctly and taking necessary precautions
- drives to each Porter-Leath work sites safely and timely to deliver incoming mail and pick up outgoing mail from work sites
- completes errands as assigned using an agency provided vehicle
- assists in day-to-day basic repairs and preventative maintenance of Porter-Leath facilities, vehicles, equipment using a daily to-do list in a timely manner
- operates telephone switchboard to answer, screen and forward calls, provide information, take messages and schedule appointments
- monitors indoor and outdoor areas daily for debris and refuse, performs light outdoor landscaping services as needed such as cutting or edging grass, raking leaves and collecting branches
- checks all dumpsters daily to insure trash is in dumpster and completes general housekeeping duties in support of or in the absence of Housekeeper
- locks all gates at the main campus, secures Administration building, and sets alarm at the end of each day
- assists Supervisor on special projects as needed, such as room setup for meetings
- assures safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines
- contributes to team effort by performing other duties as assigned
