The Server position at MacAlester's plays a crucial role in upholding the Club's renowned reputation for excellence. This role is centered around providing outstanding hospitality, working cohesively with fellow team members to ensure seamless service from the moment members and guests are seated until their dining experience concludes. Servers are expected to demonstrate a strong knowledge of proper wine service, excellent communication skills, and the ability to anticipate and meet the needs of diners through suggestive selling techniques and courteous interactions. Maintaining table etiquette, such as serving order and attentiveness to detail, is vital to the role. This position demands flexibility, dedication, and a team-oriented mindset as servers support one another in a dynamic environment that includes both regular dining and special events.

Servers at MacAlester's must be prepared to meet physical demands such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 pounds, and frequently navigating stairs. Certification in ServSafe and RAMPS/TIPS is mandatory, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including availability on mandatory holidays and during notable events such as Easter, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Harvest, Thanksgiving, Santa Brunch, New Year's Eve, as well as weddings, golf outings, and other special occasions. Punctuality, professionalism, and attention to detail are critical as staff are expected to wear clean, pressed uniforms and carry name tags at all times. Beyond the physical and technical expectations, servers are tasked with establishing rapport with members and staff, creating a welcoming and seamless dining experience that embodies the values of the Union League Golf Club

Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs
- Must stand for long periods of time
- Bending and lifting required
- Must be able to go up and down stairs frequently
- ServSafe and RAMPS/TIPS certified

- Willingness to work at weddings, golf outings, and special events

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in fine dining or private club environment a plus
- ServSafe certification
- RAMPS or TIPS certification
- Knowledge of wine service etiquette
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Customer service oriented
- Attention to detail in service and presentation
Job Duties
- Report to work on time
- Change into a clean, pressed uniform with name tag
- Perform opening and closing side work
- Wipe all b and b plates, flatware, glassware and lamps with damp towel
- Greet all tables as they are seated using members' name
- Practice suggestive selling techniques and inform guests of new items and promotions
- Have knowledge of proper wine service and willingness to learn more
- Take order with proper seat numbers
- Walk through station refreshing cocktails and maintaining tables
- Handwrite orders clearly then input into POS
- Be flexible, dynamic and willing to work in a team environment
- Understand and practice table etiquette: serve all women first and the host last
- serve food from the left
- remove empty plates from the right
- serve drinks from right
- present dessert menus and offer coffee/after meal drinks
- Build rapport with members and staff alike
- Reset tables and clean station before closing
- Close out all chits properly - do end of shift report and report to manager before leaving
- Own every situation and assist one another
