The Lot Porter position at J. Allen Ford, a division of Allen Automotive, plays a crucial role in maintaining effective operations within the collision center and service department. This full-time role, scheduled from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, requires the Lot Porter to engage with various stakeholders daily, including customers, technicians, service associates, parts associates, cashiers, sales associates, and management teams. The Lot Porter is responsible for the seamless movement and care of vehicles throughout the facility, ensuring that production standards are consistently met and the operational environment remains orderly.

Key responsibilities of the Lot Porter include picking up and delivering customers to their desired locations and handling vehicle deliveries to sublet vendors and customers as directed. The Lot Porter is also tasked with moving vehicles from intake areas to storage and maneuvering them within the collision center to support production needs. Maintaining cleanliness and organization in production, paint areas, offices, storage spaces, and the exterior surroundings of the collision center is a vital part of the role. The Lot Porter must adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, particularly those related to hazardous waste disposal, guaranteeing a safe and compliant work environment. Additionally, the Lot Porter is responsible for saving and tagging all warranty parts for proper storage, further supporting operational efficiency.

This role demands strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to customer service, highlighting the importance of a positive attitude and teamwork. The physical demands of the job require the employee to be regularly standing and walking, with occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds is also necessary, along with specific vision capabilities such as close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Candidates must hold a valid operator driver’s license, be insurable, and possess the ability to drive a standard transmission vehicle.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Pick up from and deliver customers to desired locations
  • Pick up and deliver vehicles to sublet vendors and customers as directed
  • Move vehicles from intake area to storage area
  • Move vehicles inside and outside of collision center to help achieve production standards
  • Maintain a neat and orderly production and paint areas by sweeping, removal of trash and discarded parts as well as other actions required to maintain the appearance of the production and paint areas
  • Maintain other areas of the collision center such as the offices, storage areas and around the outside of the collision center
  • Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes
  • Save and tag all warranty parts for storage
