Job Description

US Foods is one of the largest food distributors in the United States, recognized for its dedication to excellence in the foodservice industry. With a strong culture that emphasizes promoting from within, US Foods offers comprehensive training programs and continuous improvement initiatives that ensure employees grow professionally and contribute meaningfully to the organization. Known for their robust distribution network, commitment to innovation, and exceptional customer service, US Foods stands as a leader in the foodservice supply chain, serving a wide variety of customers including restaurants, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions. The company values integrity, reliability, and a collaborative spirit, fostering a work environment where employees are supported and rewarded for their dedication and hard work.

The Logistics Driver role at US Foods is pivotal to the company's operational success. This position offers drivers competitive weekly pay, with annual earnings averaging between $80,000 and $100,000, reflecting the company’s commitment to compensating its skilled workforce generously. Drivers benefit from low-cost, comprehensive health plans effective from day one, including medical, dental, vision coverage, life insurance, a 401(k) plan with an enhanced company contribution, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). The enhanced 401(k) plan includes an automatic 2% company contribution plus a 100% match up to 6%, which equals up to 8% company contributions, essentially free money towards retirement.

The role involves operating trucks safely to deliver products to vendors and customers, maintaining scheduled pick-up and delivery times, and providing excellent customer service. Drivers are responsible for verifying the accuracy of deliveries, obtaining proper signatures, and conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to uphold safety standards. Unlike many other roles in transportation, this position includes no touch freight tasks, making it physically more manageable. The shift schedule operates between Monday and Thursday, with returns to the site on Wednesday or Thursday, allowing drivers to be home on weekends. Some local work is also available, providing a balance between travel and home time.

This role demands physical capability to lift and carry between 20 to over 80 pounds of product regularly during shifts and comfort working in various weather conditions, reflecting the practical and hands-on nature of the job. US Foods also emphasizes safety culture, supported by strong local leadership.

Candidates must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid CDL Class A license issued by their state of residence with necessary endorsements, and be qualified under DOT regulations. A minimum of six months of commercial driving experience, or three months in the food and beverage delivery industry, is required. Preference is given to drivers comfortable with manual transmission, and all candidates must commit to traveling five days a week who return home on weekends. Additionally, drivers must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, as mandated by the Department of Transportation, to ensure compliance with drug and alcohol program regulations. Clear communication skills in English are essential for understanding traffic laws and customer interaction.

US Foods, with its comprehensive rewards program, commitment to employee growth, and emphasis on safety and customer service, offers this opportunity to drivers ready to build a rewarding career in logistics within a stable and respected company. This role not only provides a competitive salary and outstanding benefits but also offers a career path with promotion possibilities and a supportive work environment focused on collaboration, integrity, and service excellence.
