Job Description
The City of Compton, a vibrant and diverse community dedicated to providing exceptional public services and ensuring the well-being of its residents, is currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Locker Room Attendant. The municipality is committed to equal employment opportunities and values a workforce that reflects its community's rich diversity. The City operates various public amenities, including recreational facilities and pools, where staffs play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patrons of all ages.
As a Locker Room Attendant, you will be an integral part of the City's commitment to delivering outstanding service within its aquatic and recreational facilities. This role specifically involves the maintenance and supervision of locker rooms, ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and safety for all users. Working under the direct supervision of the Pool Manager or Assistant Pool Manager, the Locker Room Attendant will be tasked with duties that support the overall operational efficiency and positive user experience at the facility. Candidates must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, adapting to the pool schedule to meet patron needs effectively.
The position requires no prior work experience, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals aged 16 and older to begin their career in public service or facility management. The City emphasizes safety and preparedness, mandating that all applicants hold current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications by their hire date to ensure they can respond appropriately during emergencies. The comprehensive onboarding process includes a medical examination, drug screening, reference checks, background verification, and a loyalty oath, highlighting the City's dedication to maintaining a trustworthy and responsible workforce.
Applicants will undergo a competitive selection process where applications are assessed on an ongoing basis — this means hiring could conclude any time once the right candidate pool is identified. The City of Compton provides reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities upon request and honors veterans' preference points in line with regulatory standards to support those who have served. This role offers a meaningful way to gain public service experience within a dynamic, community-centered environment, contributing to the safety and enjoyment of all pool visitors while working with a supportive management team committed to excellence and inclusion.
