The company prides itself on building strong relationships through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts who assist their customers in improving operations, menu development, product selection, and overall business strategies. Known for delivering not only quality food products but also exceptional support, PFG is committed to helping independent restaurant owners and other foodservice operators achieve their business goals and dreams. As part of the larger Performance Food Group family, the company operates with a culture that values inclusion, respect, and employee growth, making it a sought-after employer in the food distribution sector.
The role of Entry Level Driver Trainee at Performance Foodservice is designed as a foundational position within the company’s logistics and delivery operations. This position offers competitive pay and benefits starting from day one, including health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. As part of a team focused on food distribution across intrastate and interstate routes, the driver trainee will gain hands-on experience in driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight deliveries. This role is vital in ensuring timely, safe, and accurate delivery of food and food-related products to customers while maintaining compliance with all Department of Transportation regulations and company policies.
Entry Level Driver Trainees will benefit from a comprehensive training program where they will learn the technical and safety aspects of driving commercial vehicles, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections, load securing procedures, and proper handling of freight. Trainees will work closely with experienced driver trainers, assist in deliveries, and gradually build their skills and knowledge to eventually operate independently. The position encourages teamwork, professional communication with customers and coworkers, and a strong emphasis on safety and service quality.
