The company distinguishes itself not only by delivering high-quality food products but also by providing comprehensive support through a team of knowledgeable sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts. This team collaborates closely with customers to offer expert advice on menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. As a result, Performance Foodservice plays a pivotal role in helping independent restaurant owners and other foodservice operators thrive and achieve their business goals. The company prides itself on fostering a safe, inclusive workplace culture that values rewards, recognition, and respect among its employees. In addition to competitive pay, employees benefit from health and wellness programs from day one, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, among other advantages.

The role offered is an entry-level Driver Trainee position that focuses on training individuals to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks for intrastate and interstate deliveries. This position is vital for supporting the nation’s food distribution system by ensuring timely, safe, and professional service. The Driver Trainee is responsible for learning and gaining hands-on experience in driving on various routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Safety compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies is paramount, as is maintaining professional communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers.

During the training period, the Driver Trainee attends and completes PFG’s structured driver training program, which may include ride-along sessions with a driver trainer to assist in deliveries and practice safe driving techniques. The role requires performing thorough safety and equipment inspections before and after trips, verifying that freight is properly loaded and secured, conducting accurate paperwork documentation, unloading and delivering goods, and handling customer returns responsibly. The driver must also maintain cleanliness and order in trailers and loading docks, keep detailed logs of hours of service, and perform other related duties as assigned. This role offers substantial growth opportunities for individuals eager to build a career in commercial driving within a stable and supportive environment. It provides an excellent entry point for aspiring commercial drivers who value safety, customer service, and teamwork.
