Job Description

Labatt Food Service is a leading food service distributor headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. Established as the tenth largest distributor nationally, Labatt prides itself on supplying an extensive range of 14,000 items to food-away-from-home customers across Texas and New Mexico. Operating from five distribution centers, the company functions in a high-intensity, high-transaction logistics environment, ensuring seamless delivery and distribution of food products. Labatt Food Service is committed to providing stability through long-term, full-time employment opportunities, making it an attractive workplace for professionals seeking dependable and rewarding careers in the food distribution industry.

The position of Route Driver at Labatt Food Service plays a crucial role in maintaining the company’s reputation for timely and safe product delivery. This role involves delivering and unloading between 600 to 1,200 cases daily using a dolly at various designated customer stops. The routes are local, allowing drivers to return home every night and enjoy their weekends, supporting a healthy work-life balance. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with dispatch times early in the morning, usually between 2:00 am and 5:00 am. This scheduling offers a consistent routine and ample time for personal activities outside of work hours.

An essential requirement for the Route Driver position is possession of a Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a minimum of six months of tractor-trailer driving experience, ensuring drivers have the necessary skills and qualifications to operate safely and efficiently. Labatt Food Service emphasizes driver and fleet safety by equipping its trucks with the latest radar and safety technologies, including adaptive braking and collision mitigation, lane departure warnings, and tire pressure monitoring systems on all tires. All company trucks are new and feature automatic transmissions, enhancing driving comfort and safety.

The company offers a competitive salary range from $68,000 to $95,000 annually, reflecting the value placed on experienced and skilled drivers. In addition to financial compensation, Labatt provides a comprehensive benefits package that enhances job satisfaction and supports employees’ overall well-being. Notable benefits include a $5,000 sign-on bonus (split into two payments after 90 and 180 days of employment), a $3,000 referral bonus, and annual safety bonuses up to $8,000. Additional promotions and bonuses are available based on quality service and longevity with the company.

Labatt Food Service further demonstrates its commitment to its workforce by providing paid training, ensuring drivers are well-prepared to excel in their roles. The company values a family-friendly environment, evidenced by home nights and weekends, quarterly barbecue events, and yearly family gatherings that foster a strong sense of community. Employees also benefit from comprehensive and affordable medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, employer-contributed 401(k) plans, paid holidays, sick days, and vacation time. Furthermore, the company offers clear pathways for advancement into leadership roles, making it a career-oriented workplace that rewards dedication and performance. Importantly, Labatt Food Service has never experienced layoffs, highlighting its stability and commitment to employee job security.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for truck drivers seeking a stable, well-compensated, and supportive working environment with a reputable company.
