Job Description
Edward Don & Company is a well-established distributor known for providing quality products specialized in the foodservice industry. The company has built a reputation for delivering superior customer service and dependable product delivery, positioning itself as a trusted partner for restaurants, institutions, and foodservice operations. With decades of industry experience, Edward Don & Company prides itself on maintaining high standards in logistics and distribution, ensuring that customers receive their orders promptly and in excellent condition. As a company that values safety, integrity, and efficiency, Edward Don & Company employs professionals dedicated to upholding these principles in every aspect of their work environment.
The role of Delivery Driver is a critical position within Edward Don & Company’s operations, primarily responsible for delivering merchandise to customers within expected timeframes. This is a full-time role with weekday shifts from Monday to Friday, starting between 5:45 AM and 6:30 AM and ending between 2:15 PM and 3:00 PM. The pay begins at $21.73 per hour, with incremental increases of up to $0.50 every six months, extending over a three-year period. The role requires a candidate who possesses a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with Class A preferred, and a minimum of one year of safe commercial driving experience.
In this role, the Delivery Driver will be responsible for operating company vehicles to deliver goods along pre-determined routes, ensuring accuracy and safety throughout the delivery process. The position demands physical stamina as the driver must frequently bend, stoop, climb, twist, stand, and lift heavy merchandise ranging from 60 to 100 pounds during loading and unloading at 15 to 30 delivery stops daily. The driver must comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, maintain current DOT medical certification, and uphold Edward Don & Company’s safety standards, including OSHA requirements.
Attention to detail is vital, as the driver will verify the correct merchandise at each stop, report any order discrepancies, and complete required end-of-day reports and paperwork. This role also involves communication with management regarding any system or documentation issues, pick-up of returned merchandise as authorized, and performing safety and housekeeping duties that contribute to a compliant and secure work environment. Excellent communication skills are necessary for engaging effectively with customers and internal staff, supporting strong customer relations and problem-solving efforts.
The ideal candidate will be well-organized, capable of prioritizing tasks independently, and demonstrate a solid understanding of product and inventory control procedures. Being able to adapt to varying traffic and weather conditions while meeting or exceeding productivity and accuracy goals is essential. Previous experience managing routes and delivering merchandise efficiently will allow the candidate to transition smoothly into this role and contribute to maintaining Edward Don & Company’s reputation for reliable service delivery.
