The Local Delivery Driver (Class B with Hazmat and Airbrakes) position in Angleton, TX, offers a unique opportunity to join this dynamic company. This role involves the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers using company-provided straight or box trucks. The delivery driver acts as an ambassador for Airgas, responsible not only for transporting products but also for building long-lasting relationships with customers to support ongoing business success.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years or older
  • Must maintain customer safety credentials for site entry
  • Ability to participate in safety programs and compliance
  • Must be physically capable of frequent bending and lifting heavy materials
  • Must have a clean driving record as specified
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional overtime
  • Valid commercial driver’s license with required endorsements

Job Qualifications

  • Valid Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license with valid medical examiner’s card, hazmat and airbrake endorsements
  • One year of Class A or Class B professional driving experience within the last five years or a diploma from an accredited driving school
  • Clean driving record with no more than two convictions or two at-fault accidents in the last three years
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets
  • Ability to lift 25 to 75 pounds routinely and occasionally lift over 125 pounds with equipment
  • Ability to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work occasional overtime if necessary

Job Duties

  • Safely load, deliver, and unload compressed gas cylinders to customer locations
  • Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on load manifests and obtain customer signatures
  • Collect and return empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders to plant or branch
  • Adhere to all safety standards and government regulations including DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA
  • Provide warehouse and dock support as needed
  • Manage the flow of cylinders while building lasting customer relationships
  • Operate company-provided straight or box truck safely and efficiently
