Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a premier supplier of industrial, medical, and specialty gases in the United States, as well as a leading provider of hardgoods, safety products, ammonia products, and process chemicals. The company operates with a workforce of 18,000 dedicated associates who collectively foster a culture centered around safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. As part of the global Air Liquide group, Airgas benefits from the resources and expertise of a world leader present in 60 countries with approximately 66,500 employees. Airgas's commitment to diverse perspectives and inclusive growth helps drive its success among a vast customer base spanning multiple industries. This environment empowers associates to contribute their ideas, take initiative, and make impactful decisions every day.
The Local Delivery Driver role at Airgas, based in Houston, TX at the Knight Rd retail shop, presents a compelling career opportunity for skilled drivers holding Class A or B Commercial Driver's Licenses with airbrake and Hazmat certifications. This position offers a stable Monday through Friday day shift schedule with a competitive starting pay of $26 per hour and includes bonus potential. The role is essential to Airgas’s operations as it ensures the safe, timely, and reliable delivery and handling of compressed gas cylinders and related products to clients. As a frontline ambassador for Airgas, the Local Delivery Driver is key to maintaining strong customer relationships, adhering to strict safety and compliance standards, and supporting the warehouse as needed.
This full-time position includes a comprehensive benefits package focusing on the well-being of employees and their families. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance, along with paid parental leave of up to 14 weeks, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Employees begin accruing benefits after just 30 days, demonstrating Airgas’s commitment to supporting its teams from early in their tenure.
The role requires candidates to have a strong safety orientation and physical endurance, as it involves routine lifting of loads ranging from 25 to over 125 pounds with mechanical aid and frequent vehicle operation transporting hazardous cargo. The job also demands adherence to government regulations such as those enforced by DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA. Successful candidates are comfortable working independently and collaboratively, occasionally managing overtime, and obtaining necessary credentials for customer site entry.
Joining Airgas as a Local Delivery Driver means becoming part of a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive workplace where individual contributions are valued and advancement opportunities are plentiful. The company seeks applicants who are not only experienced professionals but also graduates from accredited driving schools with some relevant experience. Airgas’s culture encourages personal growth, safety-first practices, community engagement, and innovative thinking, making this role an excellent fit for dedicated drivers committed to excellence and strong customer service.
Overall, this position offers stability, competitive compensation, a robust benefits program, and a work-life balance supportive environment. It is ideal for professional drivers eager to build a meaningful career with a reputable industry leader while playing a critical role in delivering essential products safely and efficiently to customers.
