The role of Local Delivery Driver at the Airgas San Antonio, TX retail shop is a vital position focused on the safe and reliable transportation of compressed gas cylinders and related products to local and regional business partners. This position demands a professional who takes pride in vehicle operation and customer interaction, ensuring that deliveries are completed efficiently and safely. Drivers operate company-provided straight or box trucks, handling the logistics of cylinder delivery, pick-up, and distribution while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage of $26 and includes potential bonus opportunities. The work schedule is Monday through Friday on the day shift, providing stability and regular hours. Key responsibilities for the Local Delivery Driver include safely loading and unloading compressed gas cylinders, maintaining accurate delivery records and manifests, and adhering stringently to safety guidelines in compliance with federal and company regulations (covering DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA standards). Drivers are expected to assist in warehouse operations when necessary and help maintain a cooperative and productive team environment.
Ideal candidates will possess a valid Texas Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License, a current Medical Examiner’s Card, and hold Airbrake and Hazmat certifications. Applicants should have at least one year of recent professional Class A or B driving experience, a clean safety record with limited convictions or at-fault accidents, and the physical capability to handle the demands of the job including lifting heavy cylinders and operating vehicles carrying hazardous cargo.

Job Requirements
- Candidates must be at least 21 years or older
- Must have one year of prior driving experience within the last five years
- Must hold a valid TX Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
- Must have a valid Medical Examiner's Card
- Must have Hazmat and Airbrake certifications
- Ability to routinely lift 25 - 75 lbs and occasionally lift heavier loads with equipment
- Comfortable operating vehicles with hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours
- Must be able to work overtime when necessary
- Proficiency in navigating and comprehending material safety data sheets
- Ability to maintain safety credentials for customer site access

Job Duties
- Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations
- Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures
- Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling
- Adhere to all Airgas safety standards and government regulations including DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA
- Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed
