The Local Delivery Driver position at Airgas based in Lincoln Park, NJ, offers the opportunity to be an ambassador for the company’s values and quality standards. This role focuses on the safe, efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders using a company-provided straight or box truck, facilitating an essential connection between Airgas and its local and regional business customers. The driver manages the flow of cylinders, ensuring customer satisfaction through reliable service and building lasting relationships with the clients served.

The position is full-time, Monday through Friday during day shifts, supporting a consistent schedule that aids work-life balance. Operating from an Airgas branch or plant, the driver will be responsible not only for deliveries but also for assisting with warehouse and dock operations as needed. Job Requirements

  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License
  • Valid Medical Examiner's Card
  • Hazmat and Airbrake certifications
  • Minimum one year of Class B professional driving experience within the last five years
  • Clean driving record with no more than two convictions or accidents within specified periods
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to routinely lift 25 to 75 pounds and occasionally lift over 125 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours
  • Frequent bending required
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to obtain forklift operator certification

Job Qualifications

  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License
  • Valid Medical Examiner's Card

  • At least one year of professional Class B driving experience within the last five years
  • Clean driving record within specified limits
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets
  • Ability to obtain forklift operator certification
  • Ability to work independently under pressure
  • Good communication and customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations
  • Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt
  • Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling
  • Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA
  • Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed
  • Build lasting relationships with customers through reliable service
  • Operate company-provided straight or box truck in compliance with safety regulations
