This job opening is for a Local Delivery Driver position located in Cincinnati, OH, specifically at the Dayton Rd Filling Industrial branch. The role is a full-time, Monday through Friday, day shift opportunity starting at a competitive pay rate of $30.50 per hour. The driver will be using company-provided straight or box trucks to deliver compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business partners. Being an ambassador for Airgas, the Service and Delivery Professional is expected to embody the company’s commitment to safe and reliable delivery services, managing cylinder flow and building lasting customer relationships.

The role demands an individual dedicated to operational safety and compliance, upholding all Airgas safety standards as well as adhering to federal regulations from agencies such as DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA. Besides driving responsibilities, the driver will support warehouse and dock activities as needed, contributing to a team-oriented work environment.

The position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with current medical examiner's certification. Candidates must have at least one year of recent Class A professional driving experience or equivalent training from accredited driving schools. Other physical and safety requirements include the ability to lift heavy cylinders, work with hazardous materials, and obtain forklift certification.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Clean driving record meeting specified criteria regarding convictions and at-fault accidents
  • Ability to routinely lift 25-75 pounds and occasionally over 125 pounds with equipment
  • Ability to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours
  • Frequent bending and physical activity required
  • Ability to work under some pressure to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to obtain forklift certification

Job Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Valid Medical Examiner's Card
  • Hazmat endorsement or willingness to obtain it
  • At least one year of recent professional Class A driving experience or a diploma from an accredited driving school with one year of driving experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets
  • Ability to obtain forklift operator certification
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Job Duties

  • Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to external and internal customers
  • Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on load manifests with customer signatures
  • Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to plant or branch for refilling
  • Adhere to Airgas safety standards and government regulations including DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA
  • Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed
  • Maintain clean and safe vehicle conditions
  • Build and maintain lasting relationships with customers
