This specific opportunity is for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Home Health, to work on a local contract basis in Waco, Texas. The contract spans a 14-week duration with a potential extension or possibility for conversion to permanent employment. The position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, working day shifts of 8 hours each. The role is integral to providing skilled nursing care to patients within their homes, aiming to ensure high-quality healthcare delivery, improve patient outcomes, and support patients and their families in managing health conditions effectively.
The Home Health RN’s primary responsibility involves delivering comprehensive nursing care in a home setting, which includes assessing patients’ physical, psychosocial, and environmental needs to develop individualized care plans. This nurse works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, the patient and family members, and referring agencies to ensure continuity of care. Responsibilities include accurate documentation compliant with regulatory standards, patient and family education on medication management and self-care techniques, and guiding support staff such as Home Health Aides and Licensed Vocational Nurses.
Candidates will need to be proficient in home healthcare protocols and technologies, including wound care, phlebotomy, IV therapy, respiratory therapy, and the use of medical equipment. Requirements include current RN licensure, BLS certification, and reliable transportation. Experience using Homecare Homebase Software and OASIS documentation is essential, along with a minimum of 1-2 years in a clinical setting and over 2 years focused on home health nursing.

Job Requirements
- Valid RN license

Job Qualifications
- Current state license as a Registered Nurse
- Current BLS certification
- CHPN certification preferred
- Experience with Homecare Homebase Software
- Experience with OASIS documentation
- 1-2 years experience as a Registered Nurse in a clinical care setting
- 2+ years home health nursing experience
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Current driver’s license
Job Duties
- Assess and monitor home health patients, develop and update individualized plans of care based on patient needs
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care ensuring quality and compliance
- Educate patients and families on medication management, care techniques, safety, and self-care
- Supervise and guide support staff including HHAs, STNAs, and LVNs
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare agencies as needed
- Perform on-call duties as assigned
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and communicate effectively with all involved parties
