Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent U.S. supplier specializing in industrial, medical, and specialty gases alongside a broad range of hardgoods and related products. Renowned as one of the largest U.S. suppliers of safety products and a leading provider of ammonia products and process chemicals, Airgas boasts a robust network supported by over 18,000 dedicated associates. The company thrives on fostering a culture underscored by safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader present in 60 countries with approximately 66,500 employees, Airgas benefits from shared values and an empowered workforce motivated to innovate and deliver outstanding services to millions of customers and patients worldwide.
Airgas is currently seeking a qualified Local CDL Delivery Driver for its Little Rock, Arkansas retail shop location. This full-time position offers a competitive starting pay of $27 per hour with eligibility for quarterly bonuses. Additional incentives include a sign-on bonus or referral bonus if applicable. The company prides itself on offering comprehensive family benefits, which cover medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance, supporting every employee's holistic well-being. Parental support is a highlight at Airgas, offering up to 14-week paid childbirth benefits. Prospective employees can look forward to future security with a 401(k) retirement plan featuring company matching, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Notably, benefits commence early, after just 30 days of employment, providing immediate support to new team members.
The role of the Local CDL Delivery Driver involves operating a Class B Hazmat vehicle to safely deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders, as well as hardgoods, along designated routes. The driver plays a key role in customer service as the primary contact point by managing customer orders, resolving complaints, and building lasting relationships. Responsibilities include collecting empty cylinders, recording transactions, obtaining signatures, and ensuring all safety regulations are met through routine pre- and post-trip inspections. Physical capability is essential in this role, with routine lifting of weights ranging from 25 to 75 pounds and occasionally over 125 pounds using material handling equipment, requiring stamina and physical endurance. Drivers must uphold a professional appearance and diligently maintain vehicle condition to ensure readiness for daily routes.
This position offers a Monday through Friday schedule with possible alternating weekends on call to accommodate business needs, providing full-time consistent scheduling. The ideal candidate will possess verifiable Class A or B CDL driving experience, preferably with a Hazmat endorsement, or be a recent graduate from a recognized driving school. A clean driving record and a proactive, customer-oriented attitude are crucial for success in this role. Airgas is committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal employment opportunities, fostering an environment where all employees matter and their contributions are valued. Joining Airgas means becoming part of a team dedicated to mutual success, sustainability, and innovation while enjoying a supportive and engaging workplace environment.
