Job Description
Lazer Logistics is a nationally recognized leader in yard management and transportation services, operating with a workforce of over 6,000 employees across the United States and Canada. The company has established a strong reputation for its dedication to safety, consistency, and enhancing quality of life for its drivers. Known for employing modern technologies and sustainable practices, Lazer Logistics is committed to reducing its environmental impact, demonstrated through the use of electric vehicle (EV) yard trucks and achieving over 2 million zero-emission miles with this program. The workplace culture emphasizes respect, safety, and support, creating an environment where employees can thrive and advance their careers. With an Employee Ownership Program and opportunities for growth into leadership and management roles, Lazer Logistics offers a long-term, stable career path for those seeking employment in the logistics and transportation industry.
This position is for a Local Yard Driver based in Stockton, CA, offering a unique and highly sought-after type of commercial driving job. Unlike traditional trucking roles that involve long drives, highway traffic, and multi-stop deliveries, this role focuses on moving trailers exclusively within a yard. Drivers remain in a single location throughout their entire shift, which means no extensive road driving, no traffic stress, and no customer-facing deliveries. This setup provides an unparalleled level of predictability and consistency, making it one of the most reliable CDL jobs available on the market. Each workday is structured with a clear start and end time, allowing drivers to have daily home time and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
The Local Yard Driver is responsible for moving trailers within the yard and between dock doors efficiently and safely using state-of-the-art equipment, including electric yard trucks. This role entails performing drop and hook operations, conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance, and following all company protocols to maintain a secure working environment. Communication plays an integral part in job execution as drivers coordinate with dispatch and other yard personnel to maintain smooth operations. Additionally, accuracy is required when maintaining logs and paperwork related to vehicle movements and inspections.
Lazer Logistics offers competitive compensation for this role, starting at $25.50 per hour, with an additional $1.00 shift differential based on the hours worked. Overtime pay is available for work beyond 40 hours per week. Employees receive weekly pay, and the company incentivizes referrals with bonuses of up to $2,000. The benefits package is comprehensive, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, holidays, short- and long-term disability coverage, and employee assistance programs. There are also optional benefits such as pet and voluntary insurance plans. Overall, this position is ideal for those seeking a steady, secure job with predictable hours, a supportive work environment, and the chance to be part of a forward-thinking, environmentally conscious company.
