Job Description
Werner Enterprises is a leading transportation and logistics company recognized as the fifth-largest dedicated trucking provider in North America. Established with a commitment to excellence and driver-focused operations, Werner has built a strong reputation for delivering dependable freight services across the continent. The company highlights a modern fleet and advanced technology integration, ensuring drivers are equipped with some of the best equipment in the industry, including temperature controlled units (TCUs) that operate primarily in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern states such as Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. Werner's dedication to safety, efficiency, and driver well-being sets it apart as a top employer in the trucking and logistics sector.
Werner is currently seeking dedicated local CDL-A truck drivers based in Perryville, MD. This position offers drivers the chance to work on a dedicated account hauling grocery goods with temperature-controlled equipment. Drivers are home daily, providing predictability and work-life balance, a significant advantage for those seeking stability in their trucking careers. The role requires handling freight using an Electric Pallet Jack (EPJ) for loading and unloading at both shipping and receiving locations. Both day and night shifts are available, and solo positions are offered, catering to different driver preferences and schedules. The compensation for this position averages $82,000 per year, with top performers earning upwards of $84,000 annually. Pay ranges between $81,900 and $84,000, reflecting the company's commitment to rewarding skill and dedication.
One of the hallmarks of a career at Werner is the company’s founding philosophy: Werner was created by a driver, for drivers. This principle is evident in their comprehensive benefits package and respectful work environment. Drivers at Werner are supported with health, dental, and vision insurance plans, company-paid sick leave, life insurance, disability coverage, and a robust 401(k) retirement plan with a company match. The company also offers HSA and health programs to further assist in managing employee wellness. For those qualified, a tuition reimbursement program offers up to $15,000 to help further their education and career prospects. Moreover, Werner is rider- and pet-friendly, making it an inclusive environment for drivers with families and personal companions.
Additional benefits enhance the driver experience, such as paid tolls and fuel cards, a military skills test waiver acknowledging veterans' skills, and special programs like the elite veteran driver program. Werner has earned recognition as a top employer for military veterans. The company's employee stock purchase plan and Career Currency Program provide unique opportunities for drivers to earn graduate or college credits—benefits that extend to drivers' families as well. Werner also invests in advanced technology, including collision mitigation systems, telematics, and a truck navigation system to ensure safety and efficiency. With 100% trailer tracking and 24-hour maintenance assistance, drivers benefit from a supportive operational environment. A user-friendly Driver Portal and app streamline communication and provide access to essential resources.
This local CDL-A driver role at Werner offers an excellent opportunity for dedicated individuals seeking a stable, lucrative, and supported career in trucking.
