Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • high School diploma and or experience in a hotel or related field preferred
  • able to follow simple verbal and written instructions
  • able to read and understand chemical labels
  • bilingual helpful but not required
  • knowledge of floor machine operation helpful
  • able to use buffer, marble polisher, extractor, shampoo machine, vacuum, duster, window cleaner, furniture polish, all purpose cleaner, cream cleanser, mop, hand vacuum, extension cord
  • able to work long hours sometimes
  • medium work exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to work in heat
  • good verbal communication skills
  • high quality standards for production with guest service focus
  • organized and efficient
  • ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly

Job Duties

  • maintain clean and attractive public guest areas and facilities throughout the hotel
  • approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly and service oriented manner
  • maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate standards
  • comply with company standards and safety procedures
  • respond and communicate guest requests to an appropriate supervisor
  • maintain cleanliness and order of linen closets and storage areas
  • maintain adequate supplies and amenities in public areas
  • remove trash from offices, employee cafeteria and front desk
  • deliver guest requested items as directed
  • perform routine cleaning in public areas including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, glass cleaning and spot cleaning of carpet
  • report all lost and found items to Housekeeping Supervisor
  • routinely clean ash urns, public bathrooms, employee locker rooms and employee restrooms
  • routinely clean employee cafeteria and fitness center
  • perform deep cleaning tasks as scheduled
  • promptly report deficiencies and maintenance needs
  • assist room attendants as directed
  • maintain cleanliness and order of chemical closets and handle hazardous substances properly
  • operate and maintain floor care equipment
  • maintain cleanliness of hotel elevators and employee areas
  • immediately report suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions
  • practice safe work habits including safe operation of machinery
  • refresh rooms as required
  • thoroughly clean and restock guestrooms on pm shift
  • report borrowed items to House person
  • complete projects as assigned
  • follow procedures outlined by Director of Housekeeping
  • perform other duties as required
