Job Description

Rocket Farm Restaurants is a well-established hospitality group known for its commitment to creating a supportive and respectful culture among its team members. With a core philosophy that emphasizes "We serve the person who is serving the guest," Rocket Farm Restaurants goes beyond the typical dining experience by nurturing an environment where dignity, respect, and care are paramount within the kitchen and throughout the entire operation. This unique philosophy forms the foundation of the company culture and promotes seamless teamwork and collaboration that ultimately benefits the guests served. The company operates several restaurant concepts, including the notable Little Sparrow, which draws inspiration from Parisian bistros and old Brooklyn neighborhood taverns. This restaurant strikes a perfect balance between approachable dining with high-level service and attention to detail, offering everything from refined culinary dishes to classic comfort foods like an ideal medium-rare burger and fries.

Little Sparrow is currently seeking a driven and attentive Executive Sous Chef to join its dynamic team. This role is integral in ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently in the absence of the Executive Chef, overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations such as production, prep, stewarding, purchasing, and receiving. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, the Executive Sous Chef is responsible for leading culinary staff to create menu items that meet the highest standards of quality and consistency. The role requires a professional who can maintain composure under pressure and foster a cohesive team culture that values productivity and exceptional guest satisfaction. In addition to direct kitchen leadership, the Executive Sous Chef will be tasked with managing labor costs, scheduling, and overtime to maximize operational efficiency and profitability.

Ideal candidates for this role bring a minimum of five years of progressive culinary experience, including at least two years operating in a Sous Chef capacity. Proven ability in budget management, team leadership, and maintaining operational standards is essential. The compensation package reflects the importance of this role, with a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $85,000 annually based on experience and qualifications, alongside a generous quarterly bonus program. After only 30 days of employment, employees become eligible for full benefits including major medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, reflecting the employer's commitment to supporting their team's health and well-being.

Joining Rocket Farm Restaurants means becoming part of not just a company but a community that values ethics, employee growth, and work-life balance. Employees enjoy a supportive culture, opportunities for performance-based raises and promotions, paid time off including special leave for childbirth and parental care, and significant long-term retention bonuses. The organization also honors its employees with paid time off during major holidays, and extends a 50% discount across all its restaurants nationally, creating an engaging and inclusive work environment. Beyond these perks, Rocket Farm Restaurants offers additional resources for professional development such as Rocket Farm University, providing specialized leadership classes and mentorship programs designed to advance careers in the hospitality industry. This comprehensive approach makes the Executive Sous Chef position at Little Sparrow an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals eager to grow their skills in a reputable and forward-thinking company.
