We are currently seeking energetic and motivated individuals to join our family as line/prep cooks. This role is integral to maintaining the high standards for food quality and presentation that our guests have come to expect. As a line/prep cook at the Jalapeno Tree, you will be responsible for prepping ingredients, cooking dishes according to established recipes and specifications, and ensuring that every plate leaving the kitchen meets our rigorous standards. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Proficient in English or Spanish
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques food safety and kitchen equipment
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays
- Texas Food Handlers Certification
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods move at a rapid pace bend twist and lift products weighing up to 50 pounds
- Demonstrate manual dexterity for use of cutting tools and kitchen utensils for chopping slicing dicing and other tasks
- Frequent exposure to varying temperatures cooler freezer and kitchen area
Job Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age

- Previous experience as a line or prep cook or in a similar kitchen role is preferred
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare and assemble ingredients according to recipes and specifications including chopping vegetables portioning proteins and preparing sauces and dressings
- Prepare and cook dishes according to the restaurant's recipes and standards
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies and ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the assigned station
- Utilize a variety of cooking techniques including grilling sautéing frying and baking to prepare dishes efficiently
- Manage ingredients including proper storage and handling to maintain freshness and minimize waste
- Follow portion control guidelines
- Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency and adherence to recipes
- Address and correct any issues promptly
- Assist with ordering and receiving supplies as needed
- Report any shortages or equipment issues to the kitchen manager
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food preparation
- Communicate effectively with the team to manage orders and address any concerns
- Adhere to health and safety regulations including proper sanitation practices and hygiene standards
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas
