Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one year or more experience in a similar position desired
  • valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record on hire
  • ability to qualify for and complete in-house training within 6 months of hire including fuel handling, NATA certification, FAA and EPA regulations, airport operations and safety
  • ability to work as an essential employee before, during and after emergencies
  • regular attendance
  • adherence to city policies
  • effective communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one year or more experience in a similar position desired
  • valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record
  • ability to complete in-house training including safe handling of fuel products, knowledge of aviation and towing, successful completion of NATA online and practical training with a minimum score of 80
  • understanding of FAA, EPA regulations and airport operational policies
  • effective communication skills with air traffic control
  • knowledge of US customs responsibilities
  • ability to use ground power equipment on aircraft

Job Duties

  • Safely drives, services and fuels all types of aircraft and airport equipment, including refueling mobile refueling trucks
  • Marshals in and out aircraft on arrivals and departures
  • greets all pilots and passengers
  • assists passengers with luggage
  • takes written fuel order from passenger or pilot and relays to appropriate employee
  • services oil on aircraft as directed by supervisor or aircraft captain
  • collects ramp fees and fuel charges
  • maintains fuel truck records daily
  • Services aircraft including removing trash, fueling, lavatory servicing, loading/unloading luggage, towing vehicles, providing water service, windshield washing, supplying amenities such as newspapers and catering
  • fuels aircraft safely following NATA and in-house training procedures
  • performs minor maintenance on airport equipment
  • washes airport equipment, trucks, loaner cars and other vehicles as directed
  • conducts safety checks on ground equipment and fuel trucks
  • inspects T-hangars for function and compliance
  • responsible for first response firefighting
  • maintains regular attendance
  • works as essential employee during emergencies
  • complies with city and departmental policies
  • performs other duties as assigned
