Job Description

Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group, originating from a small restaurant in the vibrant Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans, has blossomed into a prominent hospitality group operating over 20 locations across the Southeast United States. The group proudly manages two distinct brands, Ruby Slipper and Ruby Sunshine, both dedicated to delivering the unique spirit and soulful flavors of New Orleans through their all-day brunch offerings. Committed to an authentic culinary experience, these restaurants bring the warmth, tradition, and energy of New Orleans to breakfasts and lunches, serving dishes that resonate with the rich culture of the region.

Working at Ruby Slipper means joining a team that values quality, consistency, and genuine hospitality. The restaurant group is well known for its focus on brunch served exclusively during daylight hours, offering employees the benefit of working day shifts only—meaning when your shift ends, you're home in time for dinner. This distinctive scheduling allows for a harmonious work-life balance, appealing to those who seek stability and fulfilling employment hours within the vibrant foodservice sector.

The position of Cook within the Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about preparing elevated Southern cuisine. The role involves the precise preparation of hot food products, ensuring that every plate meets Ruby’s rigorous standards for taste, presentation, and quality. This includes cooking according to set recipes, portioning ingredients accurately, and applying expert plating and garnishing techniques to enhance the overall dining experience. As a Cook, your responsibility extends beyond just cooking to maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace, following kitchen policies and procedures to guarantee food safety and quality.

Becoming a valued member of the Ruby Krewe—a term for the team members at Ruby Slipper—means embracing the philosophy that a little butter and bacon make every dish better. This spirited approach to cooking reflects a commitment to authenticity and flavor that's at the heart of the restaurant's identity. Successful candidates will have at least one year of kitchen preparation and cooking experience, be comfortable communicating effectively with kitchen staff and management, and possess the physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, such as prolonged standing and lifting up to 50 pounds.

The role emphasizes teamwork and adherence to standardized recipes and portion sizes to maintain consistency across all served items. This ensures every guest enjoys the same high-quality meal, no matter the location. The Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group also values growth and developing its employees, offering pathways for advancement and pay increases as part of its commitment to career development within the hospitality industry.

In summary, working as a Cook at Ruby Slipper is more than just a job; it’s joining a family that prides itself on Southern hospitality, culinary excellence, and a rewarding work environment. The group supports its employees with benefits such as medical and dental coverage, paid time off, family meal opportunities, and discounts—further solidifying its reputation as a desirable place to grow your culinary career. This job is ideal for cooks eager to work in a dynamic restaurant group, served by a passionate team dedicated to the art of brunch.
