We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team. This full-time position offers an hourly rate ranging from $16.00 to $24.00 and includes access to competitive benefits. The Cook will play an essential role in the preparation and cooking of a variety of foods including meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot menu items. Precision and consistency are crucial as the role demands adherence to standard portion sizes, cooking methods, and quality standards to ensure that every dish served meets our customers' expectations.

Responsibilities include portioning food products ahead of cooking, preparing items using a multitude of cooking techniques such as broiling, grilling, frying, and sautéing, and maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation. The Cook is also responsible for proper plate presentation and garnishing, ensuring that every dish is not only delicious but visually appealing. During slower service periods, assisting with food prep tasks is expected to keep the kitchen running smoothly.

The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of two years of experience in kitchen food preparation and cooking, along with at least six months in a similar role. Strong communication skills are essential to coordinate effectively with managers, kitchen staff, and dining personnel. This role requires physical stamina with the ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift loads up to 40 pounds. Commitment to following kitchen procedures, cleanliness standards, and participating in staff meetings for continuous improvement is a must.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity
  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment
  • Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served
  • Know and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
  • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
  • Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, saute burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment
  • Prepare item for broiling, grilling, frying, sauteing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating
  • Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
  • Handle, store and rotate all products properly
  • Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
  • Close the kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations
  • Assist others in closing the kitchen
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chefs
