The Line Cook/Prep Cook role at LOCAL Public Eatery is vital to the restaurant’s success in delivering an unforgettable culinary experience. The role involves prepping ingredients, utilizing various cooking methods—including washing, chopping, cutting, grilling, roasting, sautéing, and frying—and ensuring all food products meet the standards set by LOCAL Public Eatery’s recipes. Additionally, the Line Cook/Prep Cook maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, equipment, and storage areas. Job Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in a fast-paced and high-volume kitchen
  • Ability to connect with others and work as a team
  • Passion for cooking and innovation
  • Must have or be able to obtain valid local and/or state Food Handler permits
  • Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and stretching
  • Repetitive manual tasks
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

Job Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in a fast-paced and high-volume kitchen

  • Effective communication skills
  • Valid local and/or state Food Handler permit or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to learn and grow continuously
  • Strong knife skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and kitchen sanitation practices

Job Duties

  • Exude professionalism, friendliness and fun towards guests and fellow partners
  • Prep all ingredients and food products to fulfill prep lists, par levels, and recipe standards
  • Utilize various prep and cooking methods to ensure the quick, precise creation of menu items in accordance with recipes
  • Coordinate with other stations
  • Develop knife skills for efficiency and safety
  • Maintain prep and cooking areas in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner
  • Complete assigned side work and closing duties
  • Stock, clean, and organize line stations
  • Follow all instructions and guidelines for safe usage of kitchen equipment and cleaning compounds
  • Report equipment problems and maintenance issues to leadership immediately
  • Follow all food service and handling safety precautions and procedures
