Common Bond Bistro & Bakery is a beloved restaurant company rooted in Houston, Texas, known for its warm community atmosphere and exquisite food offerings. Founded in May 2014 in the Montrose area, Common Bond has expanded to 11 locations across the city, where it serves as a gathering place for people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds to bond over delicious meals, extraordinary pastries, and custom cakes. We are currently seeking a dedicated Line Cook to join our team at Common Bond Bistro & Bakery. The Line Cook plays an essential role in meal preparation, working under the guidance of the Chef de Cuisine to ensure all savory dishes meet our precise recipes and presentation standards. This position is available both full-time and part-time with an hourly pay rate ranging from $12.00 to $15.00. The Line Cook is responsible for creating meal portions that come out simultaneously with high quality and timeliness, supporting the kitchen by maintaining par levels of all savory ingredients through proper rotation, and adhering to the highest cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the savory section. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team committed to culinary excellence and exceptional service.
The Line Cook will engage with kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, utilizing portion control and meal preparation procedures to maintain quality and consistency. Responsibilities also include assisting with receiving ingredient orders, overseeing proper storage and waste minimization, and supporting kitchen operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. We value creativity and passion for food, requiring the ability to work collaboratively with fellow team members and communicate effectively with managers and chefs to maintain smooth kitchen flow.
Employees in this role must be prepared to work an 8-hour shift on their feet, capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, and flexible enough to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. Job Duties
- Create meal portions and ensure food comes out simultaneously in high quality and timely manner
- maintain complete knowledge of correct use of equipment and use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely
- utilize serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures used in the kitchen
- inform a manager of any supplies that need to be requisitioned
- prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides according to departmental standards
- maintain proper storage procedures as specified by Health Department and Common Bond requirements
- minimize waste
- maintain a clean and sanitary work environment
- assist with receiving order and rotation of raw ingredients and back stock levels
- possess knowledge of all savory production in the kitchen
- perform additional duties as assigned
