Job Description

Aba is a distinguished Mediterranean restaurant located in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood, offering a unique dining experience inspired by California influences. The restaurant is part of a larger group with locations in Austin, TX, Chicago, IL, and Nashville, TN. Aba takes pride in its modern approach to Mediterranean cuisine, crafted by Top Chef Alum and Chef Partner CJ Jacobson, whose creativity shines through the menu offerings. The beverage program complements the food, featuring rare wines and spirits from lesser-known Mediterranean regions, enhancing the authenticity and allure of the dining experience.

Joining Aba means becoming part of a team that values caring, creativity, and careers. The establishment belongs to the Lettuce Entertain You family, a nationally recognized restaurant group with over 100 locations famed for their exceptional food, service, and workplace environment. This group is committed to hiring individuals who demonstrate passion, creativity, and dedication to excellence, offering opportunities for career growth supported by comprehensive training and development programs.

The role of Line Cook at Aba involves preparing, producing, and presenting all menu items with precision and quality. Candidates will need to have experience working in fast-paced culinary environments and be ready to work a variety of shifts, including weekend brunch and daily dinner services. As Aba launches its weekend brunch service beginning April 11th, the team is expanding to accommodate the vibrant energy of both brunch and dinner services.

Line cooks at Aba are essential to maintaining the restaurant’s high standards for food safety, quality, and presentation. They must be proficient in following detailed recipes and special requests, efficiently handling kitchen tools and equipment such as knives, and communicating clearly with coordinators and management to ensure smooth kitchen operations. The role demands multitasking skills under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor and the physical ability to stand and move throughout the entire shift, occasionally lifting heavy items as part of daily duties.

Aba's commitment to employee well-being is reflected in the exceptional benefits offered to line cooks, including medical, dental, and vision insurance plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield, life and accident protection, a 401(k) plan, and paid vacation for qualifying employees. The Employee Assistance Program underscores the importance of mental health and wellness, demonstrating the restaurant’s dedication to supporting its staff beyond the kitchen. Employee discounts make dining opportunities affordable and enjoyable, while domestic partner benefits provide additional support and inclusivity. Overall, this role offers a promising and rewarding career path for culinary professionals who want to work in a creative, supportive, and growth-oriented environment.
