Within this dynamic and fast-paced industry, OVG is currently seeking a dedicated Line Cook to join their culinary team. The Line Cook role at OVG is pivotal in ensuring that guests enjoy high-quality, delicious food prepared fresh and served promptly throughout the venue. This position is part-time and offers an hourly wage ranging from $13.00 to $17.00. The Line Cook will often have direct interaction with guests, particularly when working in areas like buffet lines where they may slice meats or prepare made-to-order dishes. This role demands excellent attendance, flexibility to work various events as needed, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and sanitation. The position requires teamwork, attention to detail, and effective communication with kitchen supervisors and fellow team members to deliver an exceptional dining experience. Ideal candidates will have prior cooking or prep experience and be adept at operating standard kitchen equipment such as broilers, steamers, convection ovens, mixers, meat slicers, and chef knives.

A significant aspect of the role includes collaborating with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate food consumption, ensuring that preparation aligns with event needs and guest expectations. Line Cooks at OVG are responsible for portioning, arranging, and garnishing plates for delivery, as well as monitoring food quality by observing and testing food for proper cooking. They are also crucial in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the kitchen environment by adhering to sanitation and health regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Previous cook or prep cook experience
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer and chef knife
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with colleagues and guests
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Possess valid food handling certificate if required
  • ServSafe certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide high quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
  • Prepare hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
  • Participate as a team player with specific responsibilities related to preparation, excellent service, and delivery of product
  • Report any maintenance required for kitchen equipment
  • Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
  • Observe and test foods to ensure proper cooking
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish food plates for delivery to guests
  • Consult with Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance consistently
