This role is an exciting opportunity to join the team at the AC Hotel Dayton, situated in the vibrant Water St. District of Dayton, Ohio. This 134-room hotel offers guests stunning views of the Dayton Dragons baseball stadium from its rooftop bar, restaurant, and guest rooms, creating a uniquely enjoyable atmosphere. The position calls for a flexible and dedicated culinary professional who will be expected to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and guest service are consistently met.
The role involves creating and designing new and unique menu items that align with the hotel’s brand and culinary standards. You will assist the Executive Chef in establishing department budgets and ensuring adherence to these financial guidelines, promoting cost-effective kitchen operations. A crucial part of the position is ensuring all food and beverage products are prepared and served according to the hotel’s stringent standards, maintaining consistency and quality.
The job also entails maintaining cleanliness and excellent working condition of all kitchen equipment through personal inspections and adherence to culinary preventative maintenance programs. Compliance with all relevant federal, state, county, and municipal health, safety, and labor regulations is mandatory to uphold a safe and legal working environment for staff and guests alike.
This position requires significant organizational skills to plan, prepare, and set up food production for menu items and specials in the designated outlets, strictly following standards and plating guide specifications. Maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of work areas and kitchen equipment is a non-negotiable part of daily duties. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a line cook or relevant role
- Knowledge of sanitation principles food preparation and baking techniques
- Ability to communicate satisfactorily with guests management and coworkers
- Physical strength and stamina for long hours standing and repetitive motions
- Availability to work flexible schedule including weekends holidays and varied shifts
- Compliance with health safety and labor regulations
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience as a line cook or relevant culinary role
- Great attention to detail and creativity
- High school diploma or equivalent culinary certification and food safety certification preferred
- In depth knowledge of sanitation principles food preparation baking techniques and nutrition safe food handling certificate preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests management and co workers
- Physical strength and stamina to spend long hours standing and performing repetitive motions
Job Duties
- Be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends holidays and varied shifts consisting majority of mornings into afternoon
- Create and design new and unique menu items
- Assist the Executive Chef in establishment of department budgets and adherence to budget guidelines
- Ensure all food and beverage products are consistently prepared and served according to hotel standards
- Keep all equipment clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and following culinary preventative maintenance programs
- Understand and comply with all federal state county and municipal regulations related to health safety and labor requirements
- Plan prep set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in designated outlets in accordance with standards and plating guide specifications
- Maintain organization cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment
