The Line Cook position at Torchy's Tacos is a crucial role within the heart of the kitchen. The success of the restaurant's renowned Damn Good food depends heavily on the dedication and skill of its line cooks. This role involves working in a fast-paced, high-volume setting where the ability to manage multiple cooking stations simultaneously is essential. The Line Cook will be responsible for mastering the fry station to ensure all fried items achieve the perfect crispiness and flavor, operating the grill station to cook proteins precisely, handling the sauté station with skill to create flavorful dishes, managing steam equipment efficiently to produce dishes with perfect texture, and assembling tacos with great attention to detail and quality.
In addition to cooking, the Line Cook will also play a vital role in maintaining food safety and sanitation standards by keeping their workstation clean and organized. Working collaboratively with the back-of-house team is essential to ensuring timely food preparation and smooth kitchen operations. The role also involves assisting with inventory management, stocking, and organizing ingredients to make sure the kitchen is prepared for service. Beyond technical skills, the position demands a strong sense of urgency during busy times to meet guest demand without compromising quality. This is a full-time or part-time opportunity with wages ranging from $11.00 to $14.00 per hour depending on experience, plus tip sharing on top of the hourly wage. Job Requirements
- Must meet state and local requirements for Food Handler's certification
- Certification(s) must be obtained by your first day or within the timeline required by your location
- Open to varied work schedules and hours based on restaurant needs
- Must be able to stand for several hours
- Must be able to bend stretch twist or reach for objects on shelves at various height levels
- Must be able to lift push pull or carry heavy objects up to 40 pounds
- Ability to serve guests' needs with a high sense of urgency
- Ability to have fun
Job Qualifications
- Previous cooking experience preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

Job Duties
- Master the fry station ensuring all fried items are cooked to perfection with the right crispiness and flavor
- Operate the grill station cooking proteins to the correct temperature and ensuring each taco ingredient is grilled to perfection
- Manage the sauté station handling various ingredients to create dishes that are flavorful and perfectly cooked
- Operate steam equipment to prepare dishes that require steaming maintaining the right texture and flavor
- Assemble and build each taco to order ensuring each one meets high standards and guest expectations
- Prepare and cook a variety of ingredients on the grill fryer sauté and steam stations according to Torchy's recipes and standards
- Monitor the quality and presentation of each dish ensuring every taco meets Damn Good standards before it reaches the guest
