Job Description

Torchy's is currently seeking dedicated Line Cooks who can excel in various kitchen stations including fry, grill, sauté, steam, and taco assembly. As a Line Cook, you will master different cooking stations such as the fry station where you ensure all fried items have the perfect crispiness and flavor. You will also operate the grill station cooking proteins to the right temperature and preparing taco ingredients perfectly. Handling the sauté station involves managing various ingredients to create flavorful dishes cooked to perfection. Additionally, you'll be responsible for operating steam equipment to prepare steamed dishes and assembling each taco order to meet the high standards set by Torchy's.

The role also involves several key responsibilities including preparing and cooking a wide variety of ingredients according to company recipes, monitoring quality and presentation, maintaining cleanliness and organization in your work area, collaborating closely with other back-of-house team members for smooth kitchen operations, managing inventory by stocking and organizing ingredients, and operating efficiently especially during peak hours without compromising food quality.

Job Requirements

  • Must meet state and local requirements for Food Handler's certification
  • Certification must be obtained by first day or within the location's timeline
  • Open to varied work schedules and hours based on restaurant needs
  • Must be able to stand for several hours
  • Must be able to bend stretch twist or reach for objects on shelves at various height levels
  • Must be able to lift push pull or carry heavy objects up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to serve guests with a high sense of urgency
  • Ability to have fun

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high-volume kitchen

Job Duties

  • Manage the sauté station handling various ingredients to create flavorful and perfectly cooked dishes
  • Operate steam equipment to prepare steamed dishes maintaining the right texture and flavor
  • Assemble and build each taco to order ensuring high standards and guest satisfaction
  • Prepare and cook a variety of ingredients according to Torchy's recipes and standards
  • Monitor quality and presentation of each dish ensuring every taco meets the Damn Good standards before serving
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace ensuring food safety and sanitation standards
  • Collaborate closely with other back-of-house team members to ensure food is prepared timely and correctly
  • Assist with stocking and organizing ingredients ensuring the kitchen is ready for service
  • Operate with a sense of urgency during busy periods maintaining quality and presentation
