Torchy's Tacos is currently seeking skilled and passionate Line Cooks to join their kitchen team. Line Cooks at Torchy’s are vital to the operation — they are the heart of the kitchen where all the food magic happens. This role requires working at multiple stations including fry, grill, sauté, steam, and taco assembly. The ideal candidate is someone who can thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment, handling diverse cooking tasks and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety.
As a Line Cook, you will master and operate different kitchen stations: from perfectly crisping fried items on the fry station to grilling proteins for tacos, preparing flavorful sautéed dishes, operating steam equipment for steamed items, and assembling tacos with precision and care. You will be responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking dishes according to Torchy's recipes and standards, and ensuring that every meal served meets the brand’s 'Damn Good' quality promise.
Beyond cooking, Line Cooks play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety in the kitchen, observing rigorous food safety protocols and sanitation standards. Collaboration within the back-of-house team is key to smooth service, including managing inventory, stocking ingredients, and ensuring timely production during busy periods. Efficiency, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency are essential to meet customer demands without sacrificing quality.
The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $11.00 to $13.00 depending on experience, with additional tip share on top of hourly pay. Job Requirements
- Must meet state and local requirements for Food Handler's certification
- Certification must be obtained by first day or within timeline required by location
- Open to varied work schedules and hours based on restaurant needs
- Must be able to stand for several hours
- Must be able to bend stretch twist or reach for objects on shelves at various height levels
- Must be able to lift push pull or carry objects up to 40 pounds
- Ability to serve guests' needs with a high sense of urgency
- Ability to have fun
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous cooking experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment preferred
- Ability to learn and operate multiple kitchen stations including fry, grill, sauté, steam, and taco assembly
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation best practices
Job Duties
- Master the fry station ensuring fried items are cooked to perfection with the right crispiness and flavor
- Operate the grill station cooking proteins to correct temperature and grilling taco ingredients perfectly
- Manage the sauté station handling various ingredients to create flavorful dishes
- Operate steam equipment preparing dishes requiring steaming with proper texture and flavor
- Assemble and build each taco to order meeting high standards and guests' expectations
- Prepare and cook a variety of ingredients according to Torchy's recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work station ensuring food safety and sanitation
- Collaborate with BOH team members to ensure timely and correct food preparation
- Assist with stocking and organizing ingredients managing kitchen inventory
- Operate with urgency during busy periods maintaining quality and presentation
