The current opportunity is with the Buffalo Marriott LECOM HARBORCENTER, a prestigious 205-room hotel situated in the vibrant Canalside Entertainment District of downtown Buffalo, New York. Conveniently located off I-190 and attached to the Key Bank Center, home of the NHL Buffalo Sabres, this location offers guests a dynamic urban experience. The hotel boasts modern accommodations, elegant meeting spaces, and a seventh-floor restaurant and bar that provides breathtaking views of Lake Erie and the Buffalo skyline. Niagara Falls, a world-renowned natural landmark, is also a short drive from the property, enhancing the appeal for visitors.
The open position at the Buffalo Marriott LECOM HARBORCENTER is for a flexible, detail-oriented cook committed to upholding the highest food quality and service standards. This role is available on both full-time and part-time bases with a starting pay rate of $19.50 per hour, negotiable based on experience. The candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and various shift times to meet operational needs.
In this role, the cook will be responsible for creating and designing unique menu items that reflect both creativity and culinary expertise. The cook will assist the Executive Chef with department budget planning and ensure that spending remains within established guidelines. A key focus will be on maintaining consistent preparation and service of food and beverage items according to Marriott's high standards. Additionally, the position involves ensuring all kitchen equipment is clean, well-maintained, and in excellent working condition, following culinary preventative maintenance protocols.
Compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, and municipal regulations concerning health, safety, and labor within kitchen areas is mandatory. The cook will contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment as well as be expected to effectively communicate with guests, management, and team members. Physical stamina and strength are essential due to the nature of the role, which involves long hours on feet and repetitive motions.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a line cook or in relevant culinary role
- Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends holidays and varied shifts
- Knowledge of sanitation principles food preparation techniques and nutrition
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests management and staff
- Physical strength and stamina for long hours standing and repetitive motions
- Compliance with health safety and labor regulations applicable to kitchen work environment
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience as a line cook or relevant role
- Great attention to detail and creativity
- High school diploma or equivalent culinary certification and food safety certification preferred
- In depth knowledge of sanitation principles food preparation baking techniques and nutrition
- Safe food handling certificate preferred
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests management and co workers

Job Duties
- Be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends holidays and varied shifts
- Create and design new and unique menu items
- Assist the Executive Chef in department budget establishment and adherence to budget guidelines
- Ensure all food and beverage products are consistently prepared and served according to hotel standards
- Maintain cleanliness and excellent working condition of all equipment through inspection and preventative maintenance programs
- Fully understand and comply with all health safety and labor regulations applicable to kitchen areas associates and guests
- Plan prep set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in designated outlets according to standards and plating guide specifications
- Maintain organization cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment
