We are currently seeking a dedicated Line Cook to join our culinary team at The Commons in Lincoln. This position is essential in ensuring that our residents receive delicious and healthy meals prepared in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Benchmark’s internal standards. The role offers a stable schedule with shifts from Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday, providing employees with reliable hours that support a healthy work-life balance.

As a Line Cook at Benchmark, you will be an integral part of the food services team, assisting with food preparation, operating kitchen equipment safely, and maintaining a hygienic cooking environment. You will also have the rewarding responsibility of contributing to residents’ well-being by preparing meals that meet dietary needs and preferences while ensuring high presentation standards. Your work will be overseen by the Food Services Director to guarantee that quality and safety are always prioritized.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Culinary arts degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of cooking experience, health care setting preferred
  • Must have knowledge of therapeutic diets, food allergies and sanitation, as well as related laws to the food service environment
  • Must be able to work harmoniously with others
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • This is primarily a standing position, may need to stand in one place for extended periods of time

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • At least 2 years of cooking experience, health care setting preferred
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food allergies, sanitation, and related food service laws
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others

Job Duties

  • Assures all dietary procedures are followed
  • Must be able to operate all kitchen equipment safely and effectively including meat slicers, food processors, mixers, ovens, grills, steamers, dishwashers, dumb waiters, warmer cabinets
  • Assists in establishing food production line to ensure meals are prepared on time
  • Represents the community with a positive attitude and pride when interacting with potential residents and families
  • Prepares and serves nutritious meals, ensuring high-quality presentation and flavorful meals for residents
