Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or secondary qualification or equivalent
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Basic computational ability
  • Ability to read recipes and follow instructions
  • Physical ability to perform culinary techniques such as cutting and cooking
  • Ability to create buffet displays and handle food presentation setup and breakdown
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures including freezers and hot kitchens
  • Ability to stand and move for up to 4 hours
  • Ability to lift, carry and handle kitchen tools and display items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate kitchen machinery such as slicers, grinders, mixers
  • Ability to create and dismantle displays including ice carvings
  • Tolerance for loud noise environments
  • Ability to maneuver in limited spaces and reach various hotel locations timely
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift regularly
  • Ability to push and pull carts and equipment up to 250 pounds
  • Manual and finger dexterity to operate equipment
  • Ability to maintain any required government licenses or permits

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare all food items according to standard recipes and guest check following company and brand standards to ensure consistency and guest satisfaction
  • Prepare daily requisitions for supplies and food items for production
  • Visually inspect, select, and use only food items of the highest standard in menu preparation
  • Check and control proper storage of products and portion control to maintain quality
  • Keep refrigeration, equipment, storage, and working areas clean and compliant with health regulations
  • Use all kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, steamers, and kettles proficiently
  • Report maintenance issues promptly
  • Properly receive and store food and other deliveries
  • Consult with kitchen management and related departments daily
  • Participate in long-range planning and improvement programs
  • Participate in physical inventories
  • Maintain positive guest relations by being readily available and approachable
  • Take proactive approaches in dealing with guest concerns adhering to recovery plans
  • Extend professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times
  • Follow all company standard operating procedures
  • Be a helpful and positive team member
  • Maintain effective communication with all departments
  • Respond positively to new ideas and accept feedback
  • Adhere to work rules, procedures, and policies including safety and security measures
  • Handle and account for keys properly
  • Be knowledgeable of emergency procedures, lost and found policies, and security concerns
