Job Description

The Kensington Hotel, a distinguished hospitality landmark, proudly hosts the Relish restaurant within its premises. Known for its elegant ambiance and impeccable service, the hotel serves as a premier destination for travelers and local patrons alike. The hotel industry today demands not only comfort and luxury but also a memorable dining experience, which Relish is dedicated to providing. With an operational schedule from Monday to Saturday, Relish caters to evening guests seeking delectable meals in a warm and inviting environment.

We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Evening Line Cook to join our culinary team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly during the crucial evening hours from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The Evening Line Cook will be responsible for preparing food items with strict adherence to production requirements and quality standards, ensuring each dish meets the high expectations set forth by the Kensington Hotel. This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $19 to $21, commensurate with the candidate's experience, reflecting the value we place on culinary expertise and dedication.

Candidates will engage in various kitchen activities, including preparing food that aligns with standardized recipes and portion controls, operating and maintaining kitchen equipment safely, and managing food inventory to reduce waste and optimize costs. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times
  • Willingness to help co-workers and be a team player
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Finger and hand dexterity to operate food machinery
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs on a continuous schedule

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in a similar kitchen role advantageous
  • Ability to follow recipes and maintain portion control
  • Experience with kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment without duplicating duties

Job Duties

  • Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards
  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards
  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time without overpreparing
  • Date all food containers and rotate as per hospitality standards
  • Check pars for shift use and prepare accordingly
  • Assist in keeping buffet stocked
  • Return unused food items to designated storage
  • Assist in controlling food costs and waste
  • Operate and clean kitchen equipment including deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat top grill
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
