Job Description

Arrow Senior Living is a distinguished senior living management company that operates a diverse portfolio of communities across seven states in the U.S. With 44 properties and nearly 2,500 employees, Arrow Senior Living is committed to creating home-like environments where both residents and staff feel valued and cared for. Specializing in a range of care types including independent living, assisted living, and memory care, the company prioritizes the well-being and dignity of its residents while fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture for its team members.

One of Arrow Senior Living's flagship communities, The Madison Senior Living located in Kansas City, Missouri, exemplifies this focus on quality care and employee satisfaction. The community offers a warm, engaging atmosphere where residents benefit from personalized services, and team members are empowered to grow and develop their careers. Arrow Senior Living is known for promoting from within and offering comprehensive benefits that support employees at every stage of their employment. Employees frequently attest to the rewarding nature of their work and the strong sense of camaraderie among coworkers.

The role of Cook at Arrow Senior Living offers a unique opportunity to join a team that values culinary excellence and dedicated care for residents, particularly in memory care settings. This part-time as-needed (PRN) position based in Kansas City offers a competitive starting wage of $18.00 to $21.50 per hour and a flexible, varied shift schedule. As a Cook at The Madison Senior Living, you will be an essential contributor to the well-being of residents by preparing meals that not only meet nutritional standards but also provide enjoyment and comfort.

You will be considered a Culinary Craftsman, responsible for creating menu items following established recipes and standards to ensure exceptional quality and attractive presentation. Attention to detail in food preparation, hygiene, and food safety measures is a must, as maintaining proper food temperatures and sanitation protocols directly impacts resident health. This position also casts you as a Culinary Connector, requiring you to get to know residents’ preferences and needs to personally contribute to their dining experience. Participating in resident orientations enhances your ability to tailor service to individual requirements.

In this fast-paced role, you should be active and capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping throughout your shift. The position requires the physical ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. You must also be comfortable working near extreme temperatures from cooking surfaces and refrigeration units. Being criminally cleared and possessing a current Food Handler’s Card as mandated by health authorities is essential for employment. Fluency in English to communicate efficiently with residents and staff is required.

At Arrow Senior Living, you will find a culture that recognizes and rewards hard work through programs like weekly employee recognition, employee referral bonuses, and a company culture that truly promotes from within. In addition to a welcoming work environment, employees enjoy a range of benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance; disability and life insurance; paid time off; tuition reimbursement; and meal perks.
