Job Description

Arrow Senior Living is a well-established organization that manages a broad range of senior living communities offering diverse levels of care including independent living, assisted living, and memory care. With 34 properties spanning six states including Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, and Arkansas, Arrow Senior Living proudly employs nearly 2,200 dedicated team members who share a commitment to providing exceptional care and quality of life for seniors. The company’s mission revolves around fostering a home-like environment not only for the residents but for the team members as well, emphasizing core values that enhance both the living experience of seniors and the work culture for the employees. Arrow Senior Living promotes a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented workplace where team members are recognized, appreciated, and given opportunities to advance their careers.

Located in Little Rock, Arkansas, The Summit Senior Living, one of Arrow Senior Living's communities, is seeking a part-time Cook to join their culinary team. This role offers an hourly wage starting between $16.00 and $17.50 and operates primarily during shifts on Monday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Cook position is essential in creating a warm, inviting dining experience for residents while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and presentation.

As a Cook at The Summit Senior Living, you will take on the responsibility of becoming a Culinary Craftsman—expertly preparing menu items in accordance with established recipes and standards to ensure that every dish served is appealing, delicious, and punctual. Your role extends beyond cooking to include maintaining cleanliness and health protocols within the kitchen, known here as taking the "Mess Out of Mess Hall," which entails keeping all food preparation areas sanitary, following hygiene practices diligently, and ensuring proper food temperatures are maintained.

Furthermore, you will be a Culinary Connector by engaging with residents to understand their dietary preferences and needs, participating in resident orientations to better serve the community, and contributing to an atmosphere where residents feel heard and valued. This role requires physical stamina as it involves prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sometimes working near extreme temperatures from cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers. Additionally, you must be able to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and work indoors primarily, with occasional outdoor events participation.

Arrow Senior Living values its employees by offering a range of benefits including a company match 401(k) plan with 100% match up to the first 3%, medical, dental, and vision insurance after eligibility periods, disability and life insurance for full-time employees, paid time off, tuition reimbursement for both full-time and part-time employees, employee recognition programs, and complimentary meals during shifts. This supportive environment, combined with the opportunity for career advancement and a workplace culture that nurtures friendships and professional growth, makes this an excellent role for individuals passionate about culinary arts and senior care. If you seek a fulfilling position where you can make a real difference and be appreciated, The Summit Senior Living’s Cook position could be your next home.
