The role of Line Cook at The Pacific Catch, Inc. is a vital position within the restaurant’s kitchen operations. Reporting directly to the Chef, this part-time, hourly, non-exempt role demands flexibility in working hours, with schedules that typically include nights and weekends but vary weekly. The Line Cook is responsible for preparing food items to the company’s high standards of quality, safety, and presentation. This includes cooking menu items to proper temperatures, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the workstation, and supporting the team to ensure smooth, efficient kitchen operations. The ideal candidate is punctual, reliable, and demonstrates a strong work ethic, with a commitment to excellence in every task.
In addition to culinary skills, the Line Cook must adhere strictly to safety, sanitation, and hygiene guidelines, including proper handwashing and handling of food and equipment. The role also requires attentiveness to detail, including care with utensils and equipment to minimize breakage, and the ability to manage prep levels for subsequent shifts. Job Requirements
- Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 5 hours in length
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds in weight
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year line cook experience in a high volume, full-service restaurant
Job Duties
- Punctual, strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
- Highly reliable, responsible, honest and focused on supporting the team at all times
- Follow all company safety guidelines to the highest level including personal standards, food quality standards, cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene
- Wash hands before and throughout the shift, and always between prepping items
- Ensure that all food meets safety, quality, and presentation standards
- Cook all products in a timely manner and to the proper temperature
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation by cleaning as you go
- Exercise care with all utensils, dishes, and equipment to ensure minimum breakage
- Set up and break down the station daily and ensure proper prep levels are maintained for the next shift
- Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
- Read all notices for back of house team members and attend all team member meetings
- Be open to constructive feedback and coaching or mentoring
- Be open to cross-training in multiple restaurant positions
- Perform other related duties as required by business needs
