Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years experience in similar role
  • Must obtain TABC and Food Handlers Certification before starting work
  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Basic math skills for measurements and portioning
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards
  • Ability to use kitchen appliances
  • Ability to handle physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds, working in confined spaces, standing for long periods, and working in extreme temperatures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years of prior experience in a similar position
  • Certification from TABC and Food Handlers Certification
  • Ability to read, listen, and communicate in English verbally and in writing
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation
  • Ability to operate kitchen appliances including stoves, ovens, and mixers

Job Duties

  • Receive orders from restaurant servers and prepare the order in line with the Executive Chef's instruction
  • Maintain appropriate sanitation of the line with Health Department and Moody Gardens standards
  • Assist in all necessary preparation for buffet and operations of line
  • Check all coolers at the beginning and end of shift and ensure they are running at the right temperature
  • Handle fresh seafood with care, ensuring it is iced down around the clock
  • Keep the line clean at all times
  • Check the banquet function sheet every morning
  • Set the line for the next day
  • Keep up with stock and alert Executive Chef if an item has run out or is running low
  • Follow recipes at all times
  • Perform any other duties as assigned, subject to management's discretion
