The role of a Line Cook at Torchy’s is critical to the success of each restaurant’s kitchen operations. Job Requirements
- Must meet state and local requirements for Food Handler’s certification
- Certification(s) must be obtained by first day or within required timeline
- Previous experience preferred
- Open to varied work schedules and hours based on restaurant needs
- Must be able to stand for several hours
- Must be able to bend stretch twist or reach for objects on shelves at various height levels
- Must be able to lift push pull or carry heavy objects up to 40 pounds
- Ability to serve guest needs with a high sense of urgency
- Ability to have fun
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous kitchen or cooking experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced high volume environment
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to follow recipes and quality standards
- Food Handler’s certification or willingness to obtain within required timeline
Job Duties
- Master the fry station ensuring all fried items are cooked to perfection with the right crispiness and flavor
- Operate the grill station cooking proteins to correct temperature and ensuring each taco ingredient is grilled perfectly
- Manage the sauté station handling various ingredients to create flavorful and perfectly cooked dishes
- Operate steam equipment to prepare dishes requiring steaming maintaining the right texture and flavor
- Assemble and build each taco to order ensuring each meets high standards and guests’ expectations
- Prepare and cook ingredients on grill fryer sauté and steam stations according to recipes and standards
- Monitor quality and presentation of each dish ensuring every taco meets quality standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work station ensuring food safety and sanitation
- Collaborate with back-of-house team members to ensure timely and correct food preparation
- Assist with stocking and organizing ingredients ensuring kitchen readiness
- Operate with urgency to keep up with guest demand while maintaining food quality and presentation
