This specific role is designed for a skilled Cook who will be responsible for maintaining, setting up, and ensuring the high-quality food production of all meat, fish, fowl, and other food items prepared on the front-line station of the kitchen. Operating within a 24/7 hotel environment, the role demands flexibility in shift scheduling to meet the dynamic operational needs of the hotel. The key focus is on maintaining food quality, following standardized recipes, and adhering strictly to health and safety regulations.

The Cook's responsibilities include preparing detailed daily production lists, employing math skills to ensure recipe accuracy, and preparing broiled and sautéed food items consistently according to guest specifications. The role requires careful selection and inspection of food ingredients to guarantee only the highest quality items are used in menu preparation. The Cook will also be in charge of maintaining proper storage techniques, checking portion control meticulously, and keeping all kitchen areas hygienic and compliant with health department standards.

This position entails maintaining all logs related to food cooling, heating, and temperature to uphold quality control standards. Strict compliance with company policies, safety procedures, fire prevention, and emergency protocols is mandatory. The Cook will need to utilize protective equipment and promptly report any unsafe conditions or incidents to management, promoting a safe and secure working environment. Demonstrating neatness and maintaining a well-groomed appearance in line with team standards is also a critical aspect of this role.

Beyond individual duties, this position involves cross-functional support, assisting other kitchen personnel as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations. The candidate will be expected to perform any additional duties requested by management to support the culinary team's success and overall hotel service excellence. This role is critical in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to guests while upholding the esteemed standards of Driftwood Hospitality Management.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or move goods weighing up to 100 lbs
  • manual dexterity to use kitchen equipment including knives, spoons, spatulas, tongs, slicers

Job Qualifications

  • Hold a current Food Handler Card
  • 3 years cooking experience preferred, broiler cooking preferred
  • basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette
  • good knowledge of broiler cooking fundamentals
  • good knowledge of sauté cooking fundamentals
  • good knowledge of sanitation standards
  • knowledge of operating kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, steamers, kettles
  • basic math skills to understand recipes, measurements, and portions
  • basic English language skills for communication and instruction
  • ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling
  • ability to operate beverage equipment such as coffee makers
