Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Culinary arts or culinary apprenticeship preferred
  • One or more years of experience cooking in a fast-paced, cook-to-order kitchen preferred
  • One or more years of experience with scratch cooking preferred
  • Sauté and/or broiler experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to use all kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull and work continuously without sitting for extended periods
  • Ability to lift or carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform all essential functions within varying temperature ranges

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Culinary arts or culinary apprenticeship preferred
  • One or more years of experience in a fast-paced, cook-to-order kitchen preferred
  • Experience with scratch cooking preferred
  • Sauté and/or broiler cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity with kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Ability to work standing for extended periods and perform physical tasks
  • Capability to lift or carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Adaptability to perform essential functions in varying temperature ranges

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook high-quality food items including meats, vegetables, potatoes, bread products, and desserts
  • Maintain control over the quality and quantity of all food prepared
  • Model The Sterling Touch® by demonstrating professionalism, friendliness, courtesy, and helpfulness
  • Follow Community standards, processes, procedures, and practices as directed by the Executive Chef
  • Read and interpret recipes and complete requisitions accurately
  • Manage kitchen equipment and utensils with manual dexterity
  • Ensure a timely and efficient food production resulting in high resident and guest satisfaction
